Nestled in the Barataria Basin in South Louisiana is a small fishing town with an attractive pirate history. Named after the famous French pirate referring to this region as his "home," The small-town of Jean Lafitte hosts just over 2,000 people. Today, the estuarian town boasts fascinating tourist attractions, authentic cajun foods, and a welcoming atmosphere, amongst many other charming traits. Although it is but 30 minutes south of New Orleans, it is truly worth a visit to see how Jean Lafitte is a "world apart."
